Easy Tomato Sauce

I am making this tonight to go with Mince and to be served on top of Spaghetti. 


  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon tomato puree
  • salt and pepper to taste 


  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook onion in olive oil until translucent.
  2. Stir in tomatoes, cook until juice begins to thicken.
  3. Stir in puree, salt and pepper.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes more, until rich and thick.

I used 

  • Whole bag of Tomatoes
  • 2 onions
  • Vegetable oil
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Chinese 5 spice
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Sugar

I added the oil, 5 spice and worstershire to the scanpan, then added the chopped tomatoes and let them cook down, for a few minutes then the onion and the garlic, and again let that cook down for a few miniutes.  then sprinkled some sugar on top to caramelize the onions. Some more Worcestershire and salt and pepper to taste. i then took all but one soup spoon full out of the scanpan and blitzed in the kitchenaid blender and added back to the scanpan, re-stired and placed in lock&lock in the fridge while i wait for the mince to cook up. i will then add some of the tomato sauce mixture to the mince and serve over the top of spaghetti, with some grated cheese on top of it.

 Verdict: spicy but quite nice. it has a really nice flavour to the sauce.
