TAKE CONTROL – PART ONE

It can be easy to overlook the fact that we often have control over our happiness and our experience in life. That’s why this month’s important focus is about taking control – acknowledging that you have the power to take control of your happiness and your life.

At the beginning of this Collaborative Happiness Project, I asked: what makes you happy? Identifying what makes you happy, and what makes you unhappy, is such an important part of this journey. If you understand how things, people and areas of your life influence your happiness, you’re in a much better position to be able to choose happiness and do more of what makes you happy.

Of course, sometimes we have to do things that aren’t that fun, or that don’t make us feel happy straight away, like responding to a long list of emails or filling out your tax return!

But in the long run, these things do contribute to our happiness, because we’re taking control, often by getting organised and doing what we know to be right. We’re also freeing up time to do more of the things we do love, without the guilt of other tasks hanging over our heads. You can feel it in your body – a sense of relief for making these choices and for standing up to our happiness. It allows us to fulfill our potential and embrace our happiness more fully.

Now that you’ve identified what makes you happy, how will you take control to experience it more often?

What makes me happy:

Taking time to smell the flowers | Walks along the beach | Taking Photos | Spending time with those i love | taking joy in the little moments in life.

I try and do the above once or twice a week. Taking photos is something i do daily.
