Merry Christmas

A few days late but hope you all had a merry Christmas.

A really quiet one here.

So much for cancelling christmas when it all got too much,

all of the little Pinterest’ing things i had planned to do and such,

A christmas eve bread that didn’t get prepared,

Those sugar plum fairies didn’t bother dancing in my head,

Christmas is over for another year

The house has been filled with festive cheer

The tummies are a little rounder than the day before

There is plates and cups filling the sink & pretty coloured wrapping paper still over the floor

Presents where gladly unwrapped

Smiles on faces where not zapped

Lots of memories created

new traditions made

my routines out the door left me a little deflated

but it all worked out at the end of the day

In Melbourne this year.

My girl is now 16 and in a few years probably won’t want to celebrate with us.

The husband worked driving the train, not the polar express.

I had a long bath then fell asleep on the couch.

The dog chewed up all of his gifts

And the cat enjoyed the foil and box he got to play with.

A candle burned on the table

A reminder of those no longer with us

Memories of Christmas pasts echoes around my head

The magic and laughter is now always missed.

Now the day of boxes has arrived

think i may do it all again next year,

it’s worth another shot..

Lights are still twinkling across all of the tree’s

A very merry christmas to you from me.

I wrote this in 2014. I have changed it slightly to reflect this current year
